Language and Tamil Civilization
This course will allow the students to explore the depth of knowledge and practices among ancient Tamils in several fields such as medicine, trade and navigation. The perception and philosophy of life, moral values and virtue which were the guiding principles of the ancient Tamils in their civilization are also analyzed based on proverbs, Sanggam, post Sanggam , medieval and modern Tamil literature
Course Objectives
At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
- Identify the facts related to civilization embedded in the Tamil proverbs.
- Analyse the knowledge and various medical science practices among the ancient Tamils.
- Explain the knowledge acquired by the ancient Tamils in the field of navigation and their involvement in international trade.
