Italian for Communication and Tourism

In this course, students will be exposed to the use of language in the professional fields of communication and tourism. Authentic material such as newspaper articles, magazines, journals, reports, formal letters, etc is used to reinforce the students’ understanding of language in specific social and professional fields. The students will be given practical exercises in the use of professional language, orally and in writing, expecting them to produce a project paper related to any of these two broad areas.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants are able to:

  1. Differentiate Italian used in different professional contexts in the fields of advertisement, journalism, media, hospitality, tourism, etc.
  2. Explain authentic material written in Italian language
  3. Formulate texts based on specific topics related to a chosen field
