GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENT

SPECIAL ENTRY REQUIREMENT

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field with minimum CGPA 3.0 or its equivalent.

Bachelor’s degree with a CGPA between 2.70 to 2.99 and fulfil at least one (1) criterion as follows:

• University Malaya graduate;
• Has at least one (1) year of working experience in related field;
• Has produced publications in the related fields;
• Scholarship recipient;
• Government agency staff;
• Pass the interview conducted by the Faculty; or
• Pass the special assessment by the Faculty

OR

Bachelor's degree with a CGPA between 2.50 to 2.69 and fulfil the criteria as follows;

1. One (1) criteria for UM graduate
2. Two (2) criteria for non-UM graduate

• Has at least one (1) year of working experience in related field;
• Has produced publications in the related fields;
• Scholarship recipient;
• Government agency staff;
• Pass the interview conducted by the Faculty; or
• Pass the special assessment by the Faculty.

OR

Bachelor's degree with a CGPA between 2.00 to 2.49 and fulfil the criteria as follows;

1. One (1) criteria for UM graduate
2. Two (2) criteria for non-UM graduate

• Has related working experience in the related field not less than five (5) years;
• Published at least one (1) publication in a refereed journal in the related field;
• Passed the interview conducted by the Faculty (compulsory for non UM graduate applicant); or
• Pass the special assessment by the Faculty.

OR

Possessed Professional qualification from a recognized professional body

OR

Possessed other qualifications approved by Senate from time to time.

OR

• A Bachelor’s Degree (Hons.) or its equivalent in the related field*
Note:
• Preference will be given to applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA 3.0 and above or its equivalent.
• Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA 3.7 and above can apply directly for the PhD programme.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field with minimum CGPA 3.0 or its equivalent.

A minimum score of Band 5.5 for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic);

OR

A score of Band 4 and above in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET);

OR

A Grade C and above in English for General Certificate of Education

(A Level), University of Cambridge;

OR

A minimum score of 550 for Paper-based Test (PBT), a score of 213 for Computer Based Test (CBT) or a score of 80 for Internet-based Test (IBT) for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL);

OR

A score of 42 and above in the Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE Academic);

OR

A Grade C and above in the Cambridge Assessment English: First (FCE);

OR

A Grade C and above in the Cambridge Assessment English: Advanced (CAE);

OR

A Grade C and above in the Cambridge Assessment English: Proficiency (CPE).

Note: A score which according to the programme standard respectively if it is higher than the score for IETLS and TOEFL. For any programme standard which states that the TOELF or IELTS (Academic) score to be lower than what had been constituted by the University, these programmes have to follow the minimum score set by the University.

Exemption may be granted to:

• Those applicants that originated from a country that uses the English Language as the National Language.
• Those applicants that possessed an Academic Qualification from an institution that uses the English Language fully as the medium of instruction.

Those applicants that further their studies in Malaysia and planning to pursue their studies to a higher level and subject to requirement in number two (2).

1. Admission requirements for International Candidates who are writing a thesis/ dissertation in English:

• A Minimum Score of Band 6 For The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic); OR
• A minimum score of 550 for Paper-based Total (PBT), a score of 213 for Computer- Based Total (CBT) or a score of 80 for Internet-based Total (iBT) for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); OR

2. Exit requirements for International candidates taking courses and/or writing a thesis/dissertation in a language other than English:

• A Minimum Score of Band 5 For The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic); OR
• A minimum score of 500 - 549 for Paper-based Total (PBT), a score of 173 for Computer- Based Total (CBT) or a score of 80 for Internet-based Total (iBT) for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); OR

Without IELTS or TOEFL: Candidates must attend and pass the English Language Proficiency Program (ELP) conducted by the University of Malaya Center for Continuing Education (UMCCed) at the level set by the University.
