Bachelor of French Language and Linguistics
French is the second most spoken language in the European Union and the seventh worldwide with more than 230 million native and non-native speakers. It is the official language of 29 countries around the world. Bachelor of French Language and Linguistics in the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya offers students opportunities to enhance the proficiency in the language and also to gain knowledge of the richness of French cultures. Study abroad opportunities are available such as our cross-disciplinary collaboration in the Dual Degree Programme with INALCO, Paris and other student exchange programmes. Our programme gives graduates an edge in the job market.
Pass the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with a credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia subject
or
A credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia July papers and pass in History (SPM 2013 and above);
and
Achieve a minimum Band in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) as required in special requirements of the programme.
and
Have fulfilled all special requirements of the programme as may be prescribed by the Senate.
SPECIAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1) STPM
Science / Arts Stream (Current Year)
Pass STPM with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;
and
Obtained of at least Grade C in STPM for any two (2) subjects;
and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for
- English;
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.
2) MATRIC/FOUNDATION
Science/Accounting / TESL / Laws Stream (Current Year)
Pass Matriculation/ Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;
and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for
- English;
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.
3) DIP/EQUI
REQUIREMENT 1
Possessed a Diploma recognised by Malaysian Government and approved by the University Senate with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;
and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for
- English;
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.
OR
REQUIREMENT 2
Pass STPM not within the current year with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;
and
Obtained of at least Grade C in STPM for any two (2) subjects;
and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for
- English;
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.
OR
REQUIREMENT 3
Pass Matriculation/ Foundation not within the current year with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;
and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for
- English;
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.
OR
REQUIREMENT 4
Pass STAM not within the current year with a minimum of Jayyid Jiddan;
and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for
- English;
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.
4) OTHER REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENT 1
Possessed a GCE A-Level with at least two (2) Grade B and one (1) Grade C in any three (3) of the subjects;
and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for
- English;
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.
However, applicants who do not possess a MUET but possessed the following results may be considered for a conditional offer with the fulfilment of the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:
Obtained of at least Band 4.5 (Academic) in IELTS;
or
Obtained of at least 477 points (PBT)/ 153 points (CBT)/ 53 points (IBT) in TOEFL
OR
REQUIREMENT 2
Possessed a recognised International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) with a minimum score of 30 points;
and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for
- English;
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.
However, applicants who do not possess a MUET but possessed the following results may be considered for a conditional offer with the fulfilment of the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:
Obtained of at least Band 4.5 (Academic) in IELTS;
or
Obtained of at least 477 points (PBT)/ 153 points (CBT)/ 53 points (IBT) in TOEFL
OR
REQUIREMENT 3
Possessed an Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) and a minimum of two (2) subject with marks >70 point and one (1) subject with marks >60 point
and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for
<- English;
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.
However, applicants who do not possess a MUET but possessed the following results may be considered for a conditional offer with the fulfilment of the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:
Obtained of at least Band 4.5 (Academic) (Academic) in IELTS;
or
Obtained of at least 477 points (PBT)/ 153 points (CBT)/ 53 points (IBT) in TOEFL
