GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Pass the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with a credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia subject

or
A credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia July papers and pass in History (SPM 2013 and above);

and
Achieve a minimum Band in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) as required in special requirements of the programme.

and
Have fulfilled all special requirements of the programme as may be prescribed by the Senate.

SPECIAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS


1) STPM

Science Stream (Current Year)

Pass STPM with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in STPM for the following subjects:

• Mathematics (T);
• Physics
• Chemistry/ Biology/Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for the following subjects:

• Additional Mathematics; and
• Mathematics/ Physics

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application

2) MATRIC/FOUNDATION

Science Stream

Pass Matriculation/ Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in Matriculation / Foundation for the following subjects:

• Mathematics;
• Physics
• Engineering Physics/ Chemistry/ Engineering Chemistry/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Computing

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for the following subjects:

• Additional Mathematics; and
• Mathematics/ Physics

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application

3) DIP/EQUI

REQUIREMENT 1

Possessed a Diploma in Computer Science or Diploma in Information Technology from public universities or other institutions with related field recognized by Malaysian Government and approved by the University Senate with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application

OR

REQUIREMENT 2

Pass STPM not within the current year with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in STPM for the following subjects:

• Mathematics (T)
• Physics
• Chemistry/ Biology/ Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for the following subjects:

• Additional Mathematics; and
• Mathematics / Physics

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application

OR

REQUIREMENT 3

Pass Matriculation/ Foundation not within the current year with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in Matriculation/ Foundation for the following subjects:

• Mathematics
• Physics
• Engineering Physics/ Chemistry / Engineering Chemistry/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Computing

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for the following subjects:

• Additional Mathematics; and
• Mathematics/Physics

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application

5) OTHER REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENT 1

Possessed a GCE A-Level qualification with at least Grade A in Mathematics;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in any one (1) of the following subjects:

• Computing;
• Physics;
• Further Mathematics;
• Chemistry;
• Biology;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for the following subjects:

• Additional Mathematics; and
• Mathematics / Physics

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application

However, applicants who do not have MUET but have the following results may be considered for conditional offer by fulfilling the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:

Obtained at least Band 4.5 in IELTS (Academic);

or

Obtained score of at least 477 points (PBT) / 153 points (CBT) / 53 points (IBT) in TOEFL;

OR

REQUIREMENT 2

Possessed an International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) with a minimum score of 30 points and grade 5 (Higher Level) in Mathematics;

and
Any one (1) of the following subjects:

• Chemistry;
• Physics;
• Computer Science;
• Biology;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for the following subjects:

• Additional Mathematics; and
• Mathematics / Physics

 

and

Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application

However, applicants who do not have MUET but have the following results may be considered for conditional offer by fulfilling the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:

Obtained at least Band 4.5 in IELTS (Academic);

or

Obtained score of at least 477 points (PBT) / 153 points (CBT) / 53 points (IBT) in TOEFL;

OR

REQUIREMENT 3

Possessed an Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) qualification with at least an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 80 percent and 16 points (High Achievement) in Mathematics;

and
Obtained in one (1) of the following subjects:

• Physics
• Chemistry
• Mathematics Specialist

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for the following subjects:

• Additional Mathematics; and
• Mathematics / Physics

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application

However, applicants who do not have MUET but have the following results may be considered for conditional offer by fulfilling the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:

SPECIAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

• National Higher School Certificate (or an Advanced Level equivalent) with the grade 80% and above 

 OR 

• A Diploma from recognized Institutions with the least a CGPA of 3.00
• Applicant may be required to undergo an interview session for certain selection programme before being accepted by the respective faculty

 

English Language Requirements

• Effective from February 2019 intake, the English requirements has been updated and international students applying for the undergraduate programmes at University of Malaya must obtain:

• A Band of 6.0 and above in IELTS (Academic); or
• A score of 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT) or 80 (IBT) and above in TOEFL

Students must complete a total of 128 credit in order to be awarded the Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering).
