Bachelor of Science in Applied Geology
The goals of B.Sc. in Applied Geology programme are to:
- Produce graduates with a solid foundation in geosciences and professionals in various fields related to geoscience.
- Produce graduates that engage in lifelong learning activities for self-scientific development as well as in academia or industry.
- Produce graduates that contribute to the development and welfare of society.
or
A credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia July papers and pass in History (SPM 2013 and above);
and
Achieve a minimum Band in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) as required in special requirements of the programme.
and
Have fulfilled all special requirements of the programme as may be prescribed by the Senate
STPM
Science Stream (Current Year)
Pass the STPM with at least a CGPA of 3.00;
and
Obtained at least Grade B at the STPM level in two (2) of the following subjects:
- Biology
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics (T)/Mathematics (M)
- Geography
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application
MATRICULATION FOUNDATION
Science Stream
Pass the Matriculation/Foundation with at least a CGPA of 3.00;
and
Obtained at least Grade B in Matriculation/Foundation for two (2) of the following subjects:
- Biology
- Physics/Engineering Physics
- Chemistry/Engineering Chemistry
- Mathematics
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application
DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT
Science Stream
REQUIREMENT 1
Possess a Diploma in any related fields from other institutions recognised by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the University’s Senate with at least a CGPA of 3.00;
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application
OR
REQUIREMENT 2
Pass STPM not in current year with at least a CGPA of 3.00 and meet the special requirements of the program as follows:
Obtained at least Grade B at the STPM level in two (2) of the following subjects:
- Biology
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics (T)/ Mathematics (M)
- Geography
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application
OR
REQUIREMENT 3
Pass the Matriculation/Foundation not in current year with at least a CGPA of 3.00 and meet the special requirements of the program as follows;
Obtained at least Grade B in Matriculation/Foundation for two (2) of the following subjects:
- Biology
- Physics/Engineering Physics
- Chemistry/Engineering Chemistry
- Mathematics
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Science Stream
REQUIREMENT 1
Possessed a GCE A Level qualification with at least Grade B in two (2) of the following subjects:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Further Mathematics
- Mathematics
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application
However, applicants who do not have MUET but have the following results may be considered for conditional offer by fulfilling the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:
Obtained at least Band 4.5 in IELTS (Academic);
or
Obtained score of at least 477 points (PBT) / 153 points (CBT) / 53 points (IBT) in TOEFL;
OR
REQUIREMENT 2
Possess the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) with a minimum score of 30 points and obtained at least Grade 5 (Higher Level) in two (2) of the following subjects:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Further Mathematics
- Mathematics
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application
However, applicants who do not have MUET but have the following results may be considered for conditional offer by fulfilling the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:
Obtained at least Band 4.5 in IELTS (Academic);
or
Obtained score of at least 477 points (PBT)/153 points (CBT)/53 points (IBT) in TOEFL.
OR
REQUIREMENT 3
Possess the Australian Matriculation Programme (AUSMAT) with a minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) rank of 75 percent (%) and a minimum score of 16 points (High Achievement) in two (2) of the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application
However, applicants who do not have MUET but have the following results may be considered for conditional offer by fulfilling the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:
Obtained at least Band 4.5 in IELTS (Academic);
or
Obtained score of at least 477 points (PBT) / 153 points (CBT) / 53 points (IBT) in TOEFL;
Students must complete a total of 134 credits in order to be awarded the Bachelor of Science in Applied Geology.
