A Malaysian candidate who wishes to pursue a programme of study at the University of Malaya must fulfill the University's entry requirements as follows:
- Passed the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with a credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia subject or a credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia July paper and pass in History; and
- Achieve a minimum Band in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) as required in special requirements of the programme. and
- Fulfilled any of the programme Special Entry Requirements as below:

REQUIREMENT 1 Possessed a Diploma that is recognised by Malaysian Government and approved by the University Senate in the field of Engineering and relevant to the programme applied with a minimum CGPA of 3.30; and Obtained of at least Band 3 for MUET and Candidates applying for Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Chemical Engineering must not be colour blind unless certified by registered medical practitioners. OR Pass STPM not within the current year with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 and obtained of at least Grade B in STPM for the following subjects:

REQUIREMENT 1 Possessed a recognised GCE A-Level qualification with at least Grade B for the following subjects:
and Obtained of at least Grade B in any one (1) of the following subject:
and Obtained of at least Band 3 for MUET. However, applicants who do not possess a MUET but possessed the following results may be considered for a conditional offer with the fulfilment of the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:
and candidates applying for Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Chemical Engineering must not be colour blind unless certified by registered medical practitioners. OR REQUIREMENT 2 Possessed an Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) with a minimum score of Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of 70 percent and 16 score points (High Achievement) in one (1) of the following subject;
and Obtained 16 points (High Achievement) in any one (1) of the following subject:
and Obtained of at least Band 3 for MUET. However, applicants who do not possess a MUET but possessed the following results may be considered for a conditional offer with the fulfilment of the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:

OR REQUIREMENT 3 Possessed a recognised International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) qualification with a minimum score of 30 points and grade 4 (Higher Level) in any of the following two (2) subjects:

and Obtained of at least Band 3 for MUET. However, applicants who do not possess a MUET but possessed the following results may be considered for a conditional offer with the fulfilment of the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:
